propane. noun. pro·pane ˈprō-ˌpān. : a heavy flammable gaseous alkane C3H8 found in crude petroleum and natural gas and used especially as fuel and in chemical synthesis (“Propane.” Merriam-Webster.com Dictionary, Merriam-Webster, https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/propane. Accessed 2 Feb. 2024.)

Propane, also known as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), is a hydrocarbon gas that is stored in a pressurized tank. It is a by-product of natural gas processing and petroleum refining. Propane is odorless, colorless and non-toxic, but a chemical called ethanethiol is added to it to give it a distinct smell, making it easier to detect any gas leaks.

Propane is a versatile fuel that is used for a variety of purposes, from heating homes and powering appliances to fueling vehicles and cooking food. Propane is commonly used as an eco-friendly fuel for forklifts and lift trucks in warehouse and industrial settings. It burns cleanly and efficiently, producing fewer emissions than other fossil fuels. In fact, propane is considered to be a "green" fuel because it is non-toxic and non-corrosive, and it does not harm the environment.
